The field trips are a highlight of the Conference and are scheduled for Tuesday 29th of November. You can book a field trip when you register online.
SOUTH OF BLENHEIM

Start the day with a visit to the Bragato Research Institute winery to discuss developments in wine and viticulture research. Next stop, learn how soil conservation saved the Wither Hills with a walk amongst the Hills remarkable tunnel gully erosion features. Then we travel to the spectacular Awatere Valley to learn about Tohu Wines Whenua Ora programme restoring biodiversity and caring for the whenua. A stop at the Seaview lookout to engage with an impressive loess cutting, take in the view and discuss landscapes. Last stop to have a look at Yealands Wines impressive composting facility and a wine tasting.

A visit to an impressive winery on the Wairau Plains starts the field trip. Travel through the picturesque Wairau Valley to Pinoli Pinenuts to find out about a burgeoning new industry for Marlborough. A stop to look at the Wairau fault scarp and sag lakes give a chance to stretch the legs before returning to Ditchlings forest to discuss forest soils in dry conditions. A wine tasting and some loess finishes off the day.
Pelorus Trip

The first stop is at one of Marlborough's largest wineries to learn about our flagship industry. Then on to Pelorus Bridge to be welcomed and learn about the Te Hoiere catchment restoration project, Forest and Birds bat protection work and enjoy the ancient forests on a bush walk. A quick trip to visit a forestry block to discuss soils, sediment and science. Back to the pub for a brew and a chinwag before heading for home.
