Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role
As a Lecturer in Soil Science, you will contribute to teaching excellence and original research within the Earth and Environmental Science Team. Your research will focus on soil biogeochemistry and/or pedology, complementing and strengthening the School’s research profile. You will teach soil science across undergraduate to masters-level programmes, contribute to postgraduate supervision, and participate in the academic and administrative life of the School.
This is a full-time position (37.5 hours per week), based at our Hillcrest Campus. The role is offered for three years, with a possible extension to four years, subject to funding.
The salary range for this position is $92,603 to $110,407 per annum, dependent on skills, knowledge, and experience. For further information, please refer to the position description. A PhD in a relevant discipline
A developing or established track record of high-quality research publications
Demonstrated tertiary teaching capability, with a commitment to effective student learning and teaching innovation
Ability to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including supervision of Honours, Masters and PhD students
Potential to attract external research funding
Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with students and colleagues
Awareness of the value of Mātauranga Māori in science, and the value of Kaupapa Māori approaches to teaching.
You will be self-motivated, with a demonstrated capacity to work effectively as a team member and to relate effectively and sensitively to students and staff from a variety of backgrounds and cultures.
